We don’t know what type of panel the Odyssey Neo G9 2023 uses, but Samsung has confirmed that it uses a mini-LED backlight. Like the Alienware 34 QD-OLED, it also employs quantum dots to improve brightness and color saturation.

The biggest difference between the Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey Neo G9 is the panel each monitor uses. On the opposite end, the OLED G9 feels much more manageable due to its smaller size and thinner panel, so keep it in mind if desk space is a concern. We’ve only spent a little bit of time with each of these monitors, but the higher resolution makes an immediate difference on the Neo G9. That makes the Neo G9 much thicker, especially when paired with its 57-inch size and aggressive 1000R curve. The OLED 49 uses a much thinner panel and comes with a 1800R curve. The Neo G9 easily wins on the resolution front, but size plays a significant role here. It’s two 4K monitors side-by-side, so you only have half the vertical resolution of true 8K. You’ll see the Neo G9 advertised as an 8K monitor, but that’s not the case. The OLED G9 uses a dual 1440p panel for a 5120 x 1440 resolution, while the Neo G9 uses a dual 4K panel for a 7680 x 2160 resolution. The OLED G9 is 49 inches diagonally, while the Neo G9 is 57 inches diagonally. That makes them very wide, but they’re not the same size. If you’re unfamiliar, 32:9 essentially places two standard 16:9 screens side-by-side, just without the bezel. That kinda annoys me because we paid top dollar for the G9 Neo. So basically someone decided to save a few bucks this way. My eyes started rolling back in my head getting tired and a lot of it over my head.but the short of it is the processes differed in quality a little but also the yield that passed the bar. Funny enough I spent a lot of time reading white papers on the processes. Someone decided to save a few bucks using that method. For example a large field of astroturf creating a large area of a mostly solid color on the screen.but it wasn't that bad.

Some people reported the dirty screen effect on the TVs but by and large it went unreported and honestly was acceptable because you view the TV from across a room watching a moving picture.
